Week 5 Interview with Coach Moser

SORSN: Last week’s win over CAK was a very emotional win. What did the win mean to you?

Craig: It meant a lot. It was our first region game and we are 1-0. It didn’t necessarily get the monkey off our back because we have so many tough region games left.

SORSN: How would you grade your team’s performance last week?

Craig: I thought we played really hard and that’s the first thing you have to do to win. However, I do not think we came close to playing to our potential. We were rusty on offense and weren’t able to achieve the balance that we want because of several reasons.

SORSN: What steps do you and your assistants go through to get ready for a game and the week leading up to the game?

Craig:
– Friday after the game: Watch our game film
– Saturday: Swap film with opponents
– Sunday: Staff meeting – Make corrections from previous game and set game plan for following week – Players voluntary workouts
– Monday: Correct mistakes – Individually practice position techniques for opponents – give scouting report Introduce game plan – Special teams
– Tuesday: Hard individual sessions (game plan specific) – Team game plan – special teams – review opponents film
– Wednesday: Work out & specialty practice – Finalize team game plan – special teams
– Thursday: Walk thru
– Friday: GO NUTS!!!

SORSN: What can you tell us about the upcoming opponent Watertown?

Craig: They beat us like a tied up goat last year and we’re mad.

SORSN: With Homecoming and everything else, there seems to be a lot of distractions this week, how do you keep your team focus on what needs to be accomplished in order to get another win?

Craig: Without our football team, the school wouldn’t be doing all of these extra activities. We practice harder to focus on the task – WINNING THE BALL GAME IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

SORSN: What do you think your team needs to accomplish in order to get a win over Watertown?

Craig:
Offense:
1. Get off the ball
2. Execute
3. More balance
4. HIT
Defense:
1. Recognize formation
2. HIT
3. HIT
4. HIT
5. Get mad
6. HIT
Special teams:
1. Be aggressive
2. HIT
3. Play to score

SORSN: You seemed to judge Hurricane Ivan more accurately than anyone else. Ever thought of a job as a weatherman?

Craig: If the game is scheduled for Friday, you play Friday. We ain’t skeered.

SORSN: When will the Greenwave faithful see the return of the “34 throwback”?

Craig: We have a similar play. 34 Throwback doesn’t fit into our blocking terminology – Great question. “Nose right” doesn’t either.

SORSN: OK, we have wanted to ask this question since the beginning…care to share with us the meaning behind “SOR-FDY” that you end each interview with?

Craig: No – it is between me and the players (hey guys remember Football Family)

SORSN: Is it “Biscuits & Gravy” or “Gravy & Biscuits”?

Craig: Gravy & Biscuits – – – ..runny eggs (sunny side up), slice of mater, bacon, apple butter, & milk – Just like mamma used to make.

SOR – FDY
