MHS Splits Games At Harriman

Midway returned to regular season action last night against Harriman. Last week, Midway played host to the Roane County Classic tourney however, home court advantage didn’t help. The girls dropped all 3 games and the boys went 1-2. The boys had to play without their leading scorer, Spencer “Is it morning already” Myers, who was suspended all 3 games due to missing practices (and will be receiving a well deserved butt-kicking from the SORSN staff).

As for last nights game against Harriman, the Lady Waves are still looking for a W. The Lady Waves’ leading scorer, Lyndsay “I Score By 3s” Davidson, hurt her ankle during the tournaments and was unable to play. Without Lyndsay, the Lady Waves struggled for any offensive production and lost 67-26. Childers led the girls in scoring with 8.

The boy’s game was a tight one. Myers returned to the lineup but it was Jeremy “Say Something Now Poppa” Woody that led the team in scoring. Jeremy had his best game of the year as he scored 28 points, more than the rest of the Greenwaves combined.

The 2nd half of the boy’s game was frantic. It’s been reported that the ref’s must have swallowed their whistles at half-time because they let them play in the final 2 periods. The fans were becoming restless in the final minute as the lead changed many times. With just a few seconds remaining, Harriman scored to take a 1-point lead, HOWEVER, Myers quickly took the inbounds pass and drove the length of the court, went up with a finger roll over 2 defenders, and the ball went through the net as the buzzer sounded giving Midway a 54-53 win. The fans went nuts and Coach Darrell (sometimes ‘y’) Ruffner raced onto the court and hoofed Spencer into the air. (Spencer, you may be the hero now but you’re still getting a good ole’ fashioned butt kicking so you best be skeered! You may even feel the wrath of Private Stansbury and the Green & White scarf!)

Midway has 2 home games this week: TSD on Thursday and Kings Academy on Friday.
