During Thanksgiving of 1976 Coach Stanley Galyon asked his team if they would like to practice the Friday of Thanksgiving. Well the team had a few duck hunters and the vote was not to practice.
The team made it to the State Tournament. The boys won the first round putting them in the final four. We faced Bolton from Memphis and were down my 10 going into the fourth quarter (not uncommon for the team).
Midway ended up losing by 30 and in the dressing room after the game Galyon said, “Boys if we had not missed practice at Thanksgiving we would be playing in the finals. It’s all because you boys wanted to duck hunt!”
