Midway vs. Coalfield – Fri – Mar. 18th
That’s the best way to describe Friday nights baseball game – HOME RUN NIGHT featuring Bryan Nolan – costar Big Jon Russell!!! The Greenwaves slugged their way to an 18-8 victory in 5 innings!!!
First inning – Myers lead off with a double to right field followed by Steve Stansbury who doubled to left bringing Myers in. Nolan came up to bat and Wham!! Home Run. Big Jon Russell came up to bat and WHAM!!! Another Home Run. Score after first inning – 4-0 – SOR!!!
Second inning – Nolan up to bat and Wham!!! Another Home Run. Then Coalfield walked Big Jon (Coalfield didn’t want any more!!). Score after second – 6-2 – SOR!!!!
Third inning – Moore lead off with a hard hit to pitcher ’bout breaking Coalfield’s pitchers wrist but was throw out on first. Tanner, Myers, Steve Stansbury walked setting the stage for who else – NOLAN – who came to bat and guess what??? – GRAND SLAM!!!!! (We had to get Bryan a bigger batting helmet after this one!!!) Sam Stansbury and Russell walked but with lighting speed stole second and third and yes Big Jon even stole home!!! Score after third – 12-3 – SOR!!!
Fourth inning – The 4th inning consisted of smart base running and RBI’s to keep the runs coming in. Score after fourth – 18-5 – SOR!!!!
Fifth innning – We had to hold Coalfield to finish this game in the fifth and it was getting cold!!! Defense – took the field and Coalfield’s first at bat struck out. Second batter up doubled to left which brought a pitching change – Tanner out, Radcliffe in. The next three batters got hits, a single and two doubles. A ground out to Radcliffe for the 2nd out followed by strike out for out #3 ended the game, final score 18-8!!! SOR!!!!
