“I’ll have to go with the Waves at home. I don’t see Midway looking past the Orange/Black Mountain Bees.

Besides, all bees hate water. Midway by at least 2 TDs.”

Amber Johnson #23 ’99
“This is not the Coalfield from past years…so sayeth Shawn. I’ll take Midway despite the injury plague..we’ll pull through this one.”

“Anybody with 1/16th of SOR blood running through their veins knows that South Of The River people don’t like no “Yeller Jacket”. I see one of those blasted yellow jacket decals on the back of cars makes me want to rear end them. Our long lasting love of the Kingston Yellow Jackets has slowly been shifted north toward the ever so humble Coalfield Yellow Jackets.

This weeks game will be a snot slinger. Either playing for 1st place or 5th place, the Green Waves players would rather their dog die as to lose to Coalfield. But rest assured them blame Yeller Jackets feel the same way. Give me the Green and 2 of them yeller jacket decals for padding in my cats litter box.”

“I think the Green better not overlook this Coalfield team; just come out ready to take care of business and the score will take care of itself. Give me Midway.”

Jeff Hill
“In years past this would have been a no brainer. Coalfield, in past years, was a very tough team. Now the tables have turned. Coach M brings the Mighty Waves into this one with an extra week of practice and rest. With the injury to Childers someone will have to step up. The game, being played at home and the fact that Coalfield is down this year, adds up to a big win for the WAVES. Mighty Waves by 14.”

“The Green Team from Midway, after a much needed bye week, play host this week to longtime rival Coalfield. While the team from the bituminous meadow often are a stern early season test for the Waves, this Coalfield team has struggled mightly out of the gate. The late preseason “retirement??” of longtime Coalfield coach and former UT Vol, Gary Kreis, left the Yellow Jackets without much of a stinger in the early season with a big loss to the region powerhouse Oneida. The Yellow Jackets did get their first win and first points of the season however last week with a win over a not so mighty Oliver Springs team.

The Waves, on the other hand have run hot and cold. The Waves played well in an excellent opener, hit a 6 quarter bad stretch from the Rockwood game through the first half at Oakdale and put in a good performance in the second half against Oakdale. The injury bug has also bitten the Green Team early and often this season and Coach Mosers squad needs to get healthy to be competitive in the hunt for a playoff berth. Maybe the bye week was just what the Doctor ordered for this Midway squad.”

——–SORSN: Mike, who was suspended from last weeks pick due to “inflammatory comments” remains on a probationary period and has been placed on a word-count restriction. Because of this, we will edit some of his rambling and skip ahead to his actual pick. ——–

“Raven and R2 should do enough to allow the Waves to pull comfortably away in the second half of this matchup. Coach Mo knows that this team has a tough road coming up shortly with a mighty band of Indians lurking on the horizon, but I do not think he lets this one slip away. Midway by two touchdowns.”
