Week 1 Pick Panel Predictions

Its football time SOR and time to start up the pick panel.

Week 1 features the boys from the south against the Wartburg Bulldogs. Wartburg opened the season last week with a 26-7 win over Monterey.

Last year, the Waves traveled up Hwy 27 and opened the season with a 14-0 over Wartburg.

What can we expect from the Waves this year? Word around the local watering hole is this:
1. They play hard….real hard…will do anything that is asked.
2. Strong but not big.
3. Slow.

Last year, the Rose brothers tied for 1st place in the pick panel with a record of 8-2. Ralton “Mule” Emory finished at 7-3, followed by “the girl” Amber Johnson at 6-4. Kyle Canup (4-6) edged out Barry Boo Narrmare who finished at 2-8. Yes, 2-8…and I’m pretty sure he was trying.

Lady & Gents…make your picks! Boogity boogity boogity…let’s play some football!

Amber Johnson:
I don’t know what to expect out of the green team this year. As I get older (yikes), I know fewer and fewer players on the team. Even though the Dawgs have a one game advantage over the Waves, I’m gonna give them the benefit of a doubt. Shake off those first game jitters, and come out hitting. Go Green!

Ralton Emory:
New season. Home opener. Are you ready for some SOR Football?!!!!? The season starting signals lower temps and fun Friday nights.

The Chiwawa-dogs from Morgan County think they have that ship turned around. After an impressive Week 0 victory over the Monterrey “Jack Cheeseheads”, the Chiwawa-dogs look to make a 2-0 start during their trip to the Emerald Forrest. It’s going to be entertaining and great for all who attend.

I had several players tell me…”If we play, we’ll win.”…Which is a similar statement to “The team with the most points wins.” But the truth is…that’s true. If Midway shows up to play, they’ll win. If not, it could be a week one upset for the Chiwawa-dogs.

Midway 27 – Wartburg Chiwawa-dogs 26

Hang on to your hats boys and girls; this one is going to be fun.

Barry Narramore:
My question is who has got better during the off-season? Reports from Wartburg are that they think they are a lot better team. Midway showed signs that they are a better team with a strong showing at Meigs County in a pre-season scrimmage. The Green had Wartburg’s number last year and I think they will get’em again this year. Let’s go Green!!!

Randy Rose:
Great to see it’s football time again. Good Luck this year to the young men in Green. A tough opener for the Green team as the Bullies from Wartburg have a game played (and a win) already this season. But they have to come down the mountain to South of the River and I think the Waves will be ready to get it on at home. Give me Midway in a tough, hard fought, close game.

Kyle Canup:
Well I don know a lot about this year’s team except from word of mouth, and I’ve heard a lot of good and some bad. From what I’ve been told they play hard and go at it hard, so if they keep up that mentality they’ll be good to go on Friday nights. I hope Coach MO and his team doesn’t disappoint, I guess we’ll find out Friday night. So without knowing a lot about how they play I’m gonna pick the WAVES in a win, and I mean c’mon its Wartburg.

Attention Wartburg fans, contact sorsn if you want Kyle’s home address.

Michael Rose:
This Waves team is going to have to assume that I am from Missouri and “show me” some things before I am convinced of their status. Unfortunately, I am picking Wartburg Central, which brings up a bigger question, when did they add the Central? Has it always been Wartburg Central and my and Mule Emory’s generation just missed the Central part? I need answers.
