Lady Waves Dominate in District Championship

It was all downhill for the Lady Waves in Wednesday evening’s District 3A Championship game, as the Midway girls defeated Grace Christian Academy 17-1. Grace had eliminated the Rockwood Lady Tigers earlier in the day to advance to the final game.

The Lady Waves hit through their entire line-up in both the first and second innings. Highlights from the first frame included a big triple by senior Taylor Narramore and a two-run homer by sophomore Alex Richardson. In the second inning, junior Danielle Borum led the charge with a nice double. Midway scored four runs in each of the first two innings.

Borum doubled again in the third, and that helped the Lady Waves add two more runs to the tally. Midway hit through the order again in the bottom of the fourth, helped by doubles from Narramore and Richardson. After four frames, the SOR girls led 17-0. The Lady Rams finally brought a runner across the plate in the top of the fifth, but the run rule came into effect after their third out of the inning.

Leading Lady Wave hitters for the game included Danielle Borum (3-3, 2 2B), Halie Wiley (2-2), Taylor Narramore (3-4, 3B, 2B), Paige Moree (3-4) and Alex Richardson (2-4, HR, 2B). Richardson was also the winning pitcher.

This win marks an incredible six straight District 3A Championships for the Midway Lady Waves. Seniors Taylor Narramore and Paige Moree have started on the last four of those title-winning teams, and have been district champs every year of their high school careers.

The Lady Waves now advance to region play. They will host the Oneida Lady Indians on Monday. Oneida is the second place team from District 4A. A win on Monday would put the Lady Waves in the Region 2A Championship later in the week.
