Pick Panel’s Mid-season pick

After a 6-42 district loss to the Greenback Cherokees, the Waves (1-3) will have to dig out the GPS as they hit the road to Jellico (0-4). The Jellico Blue Devils are coming off a 6-56 beat down by Sunbright.

Will it be hell or high-water? Let’s ask our SORSN panel of experts….

Ralton “Mule” Emory:
What’s a “Jellico”? Can anyone answer that question for me? Just curious…

Anyhow, both teams are coming off beat downs this week and will be looking to save face. Who can respond with the big “W”?

Beware “Coach Speak” ahead: The team that makes the fewest mental mistakes, doesn’t turn the ball over, and scores the most points will win. I really don’t see Jellico having a home field advantage even though it’s a long trip up the mountain for the Waves. While water doesn’t generally flow up-hill, this will be the exception to this law of physics.

Again, can someone answer my question: What is a “Jellico” anyway?

Give me the Waves in this one.

Midway X + 7, Jellico Y – 3

Randy “Zipper” Rose:
An opportunity to get another win for the Green team. Can they do it? I think so and it will make the long drive back home much more pleasant following a win. Give me Midway.

Kyle “Pole Cat” Canup:
Last week was a very rough loss but to a very good football team. I think the young green team can learn a lot from a loss to a talented team as that. From what I’ve read about Jellico, I can tell they’re not much of a team and what I can remember of past Jellico teams, things aren’t in their favor. I know Midway wants a rebound from last week and is looking to make the venturous road trip with the intentions of building up some confidence. I’m taking midway in a huge win this week.

Amber “Bock” Johnson:
If the boys can stay focus on the long ride up and over the mountain, I think they can bring a victory home. Midway

Michael “Corso” Rose:
After a disappointing performance last week by the Waves, and another missed opportunity by Captain Campground to provide the coverage to the legions of SORSN.com fans that they truly deserve, the Waves travel up the road quite a commute to take on the Jellico Blue Devils. Captain Campground (see last weeks post for explanation) has assured me personally that this will be the week that his Green Wave game perfect attendance streak will restart and has promised to attend all the remainder of the games this season. If you would like to see Captain Campground and his gigantic zoom lens and blinding flash on the sidelines once again, please post your comments and heartfelt appreciation on SORSN.com’s facebook page. Let’s all show the SORSN.com editor and CEO some love. Again thanks for your support.

Now onto the game. This should be a close matchup. Both teams have struggled of late and are desperate for a win. Lets look at a couple more of Coach Neylands Game Maxims for some clues to victory.

“If at first the breaks or the game, go against you, don’t let up, put on more steam”
Jellico is hosting this game, and will likely come out hot early while trying to impress the home town crowd. The Waves and the coaching staff need to stay calm and stay focused, especially in the early going and stick to the game plan.

“Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way-SCORE”
Midway has got to take advantage of the turnovers, penalties and miscues of the Blue Devils and minimize their own mistakes. A fumble or interception return could mean the difference in this ball game.

I am feeling Boo Narramore optimistic this week on the Green team, and maybe going out on a limb, but I like Midway and Thomas Viars feet to lead us to a win this week.

Barry “Boo” Narramore:
Tough loss last week at Greenback! But I did see some fire from the Green team. Clower made some plays and Cody Davidson was noticeable on the field with alot of hustle. Viar made some plays running and throwing the ball. This week the Greenwaves make the long trip to Jellico. If the Green team can get some stops on defense they will find win number 2!

We don’t know if Barry actually made a pick but considering he hasn’t picked against Midway in 35 years, we assume he is going with the Waves.
