Final Picks of 2011

The Greenwave answered the call put forth by the Green Nation and beat Hancock County 40-34 in overtime last Friday night. And for the first time in 2 years, Mike Rose had an incorrect pick when he proclaimed a Hancock County win.

The Waves will now close out the season at Rockwood as they face the 5-4 Tigers who are coming off a 40-0 beat down of Tellico Plains.

Can the Waves pull off the upset by beating the “trash from the other side of the river”? Let’s hear from the panel one last time.

Ralton Emory:
Glad that the Waves proved me wrong last week. Great win to keep your playoff hopes alive. It did appear that the waitresses and waiters at Buffalo Wild Wings figured out that Mike Rose was a horrible tipper and didn’t fix the game for him.

On to matters at hand, I do not think they should remake the classic movie “The Last Starfighter” – leave the classics alone. Oh, what, this is a ballgame pick? Okay.

Way back in the day when I dominated the left tackle position, the game with Rock-worthless was always a dog-eat-dog battle. During my tenure (and Mike Rose’s as a matter of fact), it was truthfully a county rivalry game. A pride game. Now, it’s district play and worth much more. Can the Waves pull out an upset and get a bit of help to reach the playoffs?

Probably not; but just as the Waves proved me wrong last week, do it again this week. Work for that pride again.

Randy Rose:
Congratulations to the Green TEAM on a good win last week, with the emphasis on TEAM. Success will come to these players that will stick together thru good times and bad and work hard and play together as a team. I would love to see the season end with a big win over Rockwood, but as many of us remember, it is tough to get a win on the road at Rockwood, I’m going to have to go with the Tigers this week.

Kyle Canup:
I’ve taken Midway all year so might as well stay with them even though it may not end up as good as we want it to but hopefully they play ok. No one likes those goatee wearing Rockwood people anyways so it doesn’t matter. Oh and I read your interview with O’Toole…..I think anyone with a Grace affiliation should not be on the panel for future references.

Barry Narramore:
Last Friday night, I stood on the fence and cheered our beloved Greenwaves to an overtime victory. Shandon Lyle played like a Lyle and was a beast on offense and defense. Thomas Viar made a beautiful run to win the game! 1st year player Caleb Gentry made some nice plays from his defensive tackle position and was in on a couple of sacks, but was even more impressive on Saturday night on the dance floor at Whitestone.

This week will be another tough game, but I got faith in the Green team from Midway. Good guys 14 Rockwood 7
Go Big Green!!!!

Michael Rose:
After an 18 week run of correct picks, I was more than willing to give up the pick streak to see the Waves get a win this past Friday night. Congratulations to young Tom Viar and the Waves on the thrilling overtime victory. Hopefully this win can serve as a building block in the offseason.

As for the season finale this week, a playoff bound Rockvegas team seems to have a bit too much horsepower for the Green Wave team. This could be my final pick of all time on the panel as the SORSN.com editor has hinted that he is “looking to make some moves” in the offseason and may force me into early retirement. On my most recent pay for performance review (a misnomer if there ever was one), the editor wants me to focus on “revenue generation and additional sponsorship possibilities” for the website. If so, a 9-1 record and another pick panel championship would be a fitting way to end the run. Give me the Tigers and in the words of a great poet, stay thirsty my friends.

Amber Johnson:
Ok, proud of the Green boys after their overtime win. Don’t think we’ll repeat that this week unfortunately. Rockwood “The armpit of Roane County”; according to cousin Trevor.
