Congratulations to Midway High’s own Danielle Borum, who just signed to play softball at Union College in Barbourville, KY. Union is an NAIA school with a strong softball program. The school had recruited Borum aggressively. At a ceremony held at Midway on Tuesday, she signed papers to make it official. This coming March, Borum will begin her senior season with the Midway Lady Waves.

Borum has been a stand-out player for the Lady Waves for the past three seasons. She has been in the starting lineup since the beginning of her freshman year, and she made the All-District tournament team that season. Borum has played short stop during her high school career, but she really put her mark on the Lady Wave defense when she became Midway’s center fielder. Borum has made that position her signature, hauling in phenomenal-looking catches time and again for the Lady Waves.

Borum became Midway’s lead-off batter at the start of her second season and has been in that spot ever since. In her first three seasons, Borum has a batting average of .470. She has hit 9 home runs. Borum has 88 RBI and has hit 26 doubles. She earned All-District team honors during her sophomore and junior campaigns, as well as being named to the All-District tournament team again for those seasons. After her junior year, Borum was named to the All-State team by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.

Borum says she is excited about the possibilities of what she can do at the next level. She is looking forward to pushing herself. Borum’s future college coach, Lindsy Little, really likes the way that Borum moves to the ball in the outfield. Little has told Borum to expect to play there in college.

Borum is planning on majoring in physical therapy at Union. But first, she has one more season to play for the Lady Waves, and we’re betting that it will be her best yet.
