Pick Panel: Game 7 vs. Oliver Springs

All is good in the world right now.  The Green Wave are coming off back-to-back wins, the Braves are the top team in baseball and the Vols have a blackout game Saturday night to avenge Hooker. In this week’s episode of Friday night lights, the Wave travel to the land of Oz to face the Bobcats of Oliver Springs. After opening the season with a pair of losses, the Bobcats are 4-2 on the year with wins over Harriman, Rockwood, Oakdale and Sunbright.

Can the Wave (3-3) double last year’s total wins and roll out of Oliver Springs High School…eh, Oliver Springs Academy, with a win? Last week in an attempt to separate himself from the pack, pick panel member Jason Lloyd went against the grain and picked Jellico – a pick that backfired and put the panel in a 5-way tie for 2nd.  This left Tyson Canup in first place. Will Tyson be able to extend his lead?  Green vs. Purple – let’s see how the panel leans.

Tyson Canup (4-2): Let’s go!!!! Green > Purple!! Waves crashing over the Bobcats! I can feel the football in the air! There is no way Midway will lose this one. The streak will continue in a low scoring slugfest. 14-12

Chris Barry (3-3): Well, we’ve made it to the halfway point of the season and this is where your season is made or lost. You either buckle down and get the job done or float away like Wilson in Castaway. And it seems the waves do have the Grit to get the job done and it’s gonna take digging down deep and fighting to bring out some wins. I believe the waves are ready for this fight, and we’ll go blow for blow with the bobcats. It’s gonna be a close one and O’Toole may pull out that one strand of gray hair he has left. But give me the Green 14-12 in a dog fight. Let’s get ‘em boys! Go Big Green!

Travis Jackson (3-3): This should be a great weekend of sports. The Vols looking for revenge and Green looking to continue their winning streak. I see a lot of improvement in the SOR gang and they pulled out a very nice tough win last week. O’Toole has the boys believing and playing hard but I have to give this week to the boys from Oliver Springs. They faced two really good teams to start the year with South Pittsburgh and Kingston but have handled the next 4 teams with ease. It will be a slobber knocker but unfortunately I see the green coming up a tad short this week. 26-18 OS. Prove me wrong boys!

Jason Lloyd (3-3): What a great time of year for sports. I love seeing the tomahawk chop and hearing the chants of GBO and SOR!

Little known fact about me, I actually attended Oliver Springs and Midway High School at the same time my senior year (long story). So this game holds extra meaning for me. However it’s the boys in green I will be pulling for Friday night. I look for them to continue their win streak, and beat the in-county rivals from OS in a close one (21-20). Waves extend their winning streak to 3 games. Let’s go green!
Ethan Crabtree (3-3): Well, we have a huge week of football this week in a big county rivalry game! Midway pulled out a great win last week against Jellico and proved that they won’t just lay down, but yet they will grit their teeth and fight with all they got! Although the Waves are on a 2 game win streak, I am going to go with Oliver Springs to pull this one out 35-21. I sure do hope the boys in green can prove me wrong!

Barry Boo Narramore (3-3):  What an exciting game last Friday night South of the River!! This week the Green defense will show up big and slow down the Bobcats high scoring offense and get another W. This one will be tough but the Green will put it out. Go Big Green!
