Week 10 Interview with Coach Craig Moser

Head Coach Craig Moser:
SORSN: With a win over Sunbright, your 2004 squad will go into the MHS record book with a 9-1 regular season record. Have you spoke to the team about this?

Craig: Yes. This team is proud of their school and community. They are extremely motivated by the possibility to put their mark in the record books at MHS.

SORSN: In the first game of the season, you’re team was forced to play 2 quarters with the backup QB and 2 quarters with the 3rd listed QB. Do you think about “what if”; what if you could play Rockwood again with your starting QB and RB to have a chance at a perfect record?

Craig: You play with who you’ve got. We played Rockwood on the scheduled date with the players we had and got beat.

SORSN: We have heard from the players contributing much of the success this season to their summer workouts. As a football coach at Midway High School, do you have an off-season?

Craig: Not really. I try and take off Christmas Break (except for 1 coaches meeting), Spring Break, and TSSAA shutdown (although I still have to water and mow). If the players follow the plan that we have in the off-season, they have a much greater chance of success. The system has proven to work.

SORSN: Your starting running back from the past 2 seasons, Brock King, never got to play a snap this season. However, though only a sophomore, Blake Bray has become an outstanding running back this season in his absence. When did you know that Bray would be your starting tail back and did you have any idea that he would become such a solid RB in such a short amount of time?

Craig: Is Bray our starter? All jobs are open each week. Step up and be a star!

SORSN: What is your favorite movie of all time?

Craig: I have a few: Sling Blade, Rocky, Hoosiers, Pure Country (I sing like G. Strait)

SORSN: We had no idea that you had a legendary singing voice. Perhaps after the season you can showcase your vocals at karaoke night at Euchee Marina.

SORSN: As a kid, who was your favorite NFL player and team?

Craig: DALLAS COWBOYS: Tony Dorsett, “Too Tall” Jones, Roger Stalbauch, Randy White, D.D. Lewis, Tony Hill, Billy Jo DuPree, Preston Pearson, Harvey Martin
Does anyone remember “The California Quake”? POW-POW

SORSN: As a player, did you have a song that you loved to listen to before a game? If so, what song?

Craig: Not really, the guys used to listen to a lot of AC/DC. TNT used to fire me up (it also fires up Cody “Did I Shave My Head for This” Turpin). When I played I liked to relax, everyone is different.
