Greenwaves Fold in 2nd Half

The Midway Greenwaves debuted their new warm ups at the season opener and they can only be described as “bling, bling”.

The Greenwaves controlled every aspect of the game in the first half. They were hitting big shots and controlled the tempo of the game.

Justin Pressley, #23, was deadly from behind the arc and Jeremy “Windex” Woody was a terror on the boards as he kept the Greenwaves ahead on the scoreboard by cleaning up the misses. The Greenwaves would go into the locker room ahead 25-20 at the half way point.

However, the 2nd half was the complete opposite for the Greenwaves. P-A-N-I-C. The Greenwaves lost control, lost tempo, and basically handed Rockwood the win. Foul trouble was again a factor for the Greenwaves as it was for the Lady Waves. Spencer “Smack, Smack” Myers saw little action in the 2nd and 3rd quarters due to foul trouble and later fouled out in the 4th. Eventually 4 Greenwaves would foul out in the fourth, leaving Coach Ruffner to scramble on the bench for key players to try and pull off the 4th period comeback.

The 3rd quarter was a poor shooting performance for both teams as they only scored 14 points combined. The Greenwaves coughed up the lead but were able to stay close as the 3rd period ended with the Greenwaves down 30-29.

Prior to fouling out, Myers was able to “bank” a 3-pointer (And I do believe I heard him call it) to pull the Greenwaves within striking distance. However, costly turnovers and fouls would be the Achilles Heal for the Greenwaves as they would come up short, 45-42.

Midway will travel to Oakdale on Friday night.
